The body of the hat is worked sideways, back and forth in rows, then grafted into a cylinder. Stitches for the ribbing are picked up along one edge of the body and worked in the round. Stitches for the crown are picked up along the remaining edge of the body and worked in the round with decreases for the top of the head.
