What you will learn

The techniques used in this project include knitting, purling, increasing, and stranded knitting.

Knowing how to lock your floats is helpful in this pattern, but not required. Kelley thinks it's a neat technique, thought, so she filmed a couple of tutorials for you!

Lucio Shawl Knit-Along

Materials (We have the yarn and needles in stock!)

• 6 balls of HiKoo® SimpliCria (4 balls man color [MC], 2 balls contrasting color [CC])
• addi® 24" US 9 circular needles, or size needed to achieve gauge

(The colors used in the brown and blue sample are MC: #261 Grizzley, and CC: #252, Tropical Rain.)

Gauge: Approximately 21 stitches and 28 rows = 4” in Stockinette

Size: Approximately 51" by 28"

About Kyle Kunneke

Kyle lives near Seattle, and he enjoys designing knitwear, teaching, and helping people use fiber arts to combat depression, anxiety, and isolation. Kyle has a wonderful history of helping others through fiber arts.

In 2009, he organized a worldwide project, bringing knitters together to make a blanket for a man in Holland who was battling testicular cancer. Kyle received more than 200 squares from over 50 knitters and crocheters!

In 2010, Kyle moved to San Francisco to pursue work in HIV prevention and public health, and also began releasing knitwear patterns. Kyle's designs have been published in numerous knitting and fiber arts magazines, in books, and under the Kyle William label on his website.

Kyle's book, Urban Knit Collection: 18 City-Inspired Knitting Patterns for the Modern Wardrobe (Interweave, 2016) is a modern classic, with gorgeous examples of colorwork knitting, cable work, and just plain amazing knitting.
