About the Icelandic Bind Off

Here's a quick video showing how to knit the Icelandic Bind Off. This bind off goes very well with a garter stitch because it has a purl bump edge.

I paired it with an Old Norwegian Cast On (I showed this in another video) to make the edge on my free knit blanket pattern, Kisses and Hugs Reversible Blanket.

Background On the Icelandic Bind-Off

This is a quick and efficient bind-off, good for intermediate knitters. It is one of the the stretchiest of the standard bind-offs. 

Although I like using this bind-off with the garter stitch, it goes well with nearly any stitch pattern. For instance, when used with stockinette stitch it provides a nice rolled edge.
